Ticking sound when HVAC is on

If it is a water leak, and debris from the patch is causing the noise, you bet it's something to worry about, and it should be checked as a possibility to at least rule it out!!!!!!!!

check the obvious and easy then move on to the hard and usaly expensive! there is a youtube video about fan blower noises and cures

That's the mantra! I'll be checking both. I know there's the water leak issue, and I also would not be surprised if the fan bearing is going out...

I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty, and if it means keeping my Zombie Van looking and driving like new, I'm gonna do it. In terms of an HHR, my '06 is still a baby (93,000 miles.) I'm going for 300,000 so I expect bumps along the way like any other car...
