Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid replacement

Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid replacement
Hi folks, glad to be a part of the Community!
I have a 2008 HHR LS, 2.2/auto.
just over 100,000 miles now, overall
car hasn't been that bad at all through
the years, since new!
The car runs/shifts/stops/accelerates
just fine, no issues, except losing the
lockup on the converter. Car does go
through all the gears just fine... just
that with losing the lockup for whatever
reason, the rpm's are up slightly on
the highway.
Is it possible, it is just the Solenoid,
and could I try replacing it- to regain
my gas mileage............ :/
And if so, RockAuto has #4 of them,
from 17 to 100$, Transmaxx, ATP,
and Pioneer...................... any thoughts
would be very helpful on which one?!!
Again, many thanks, glad to be a prt
of the group-at-large!! :)
Sincerely, Bob.

Re: Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid replacement?
Hi again folks,
I haven't seen the check engine light at all.....
I have an OBD 2 scanner, I'll check and see.
If it is the turbine shaft o-ring, does the trans
have to come out of the car for replacement??!
And yes, I did think of trying my cheap little scan
tool before bringing it in the shop.... the vehicle is
due for trans fluid and filter replacement, so I figured
I would try the 17$ clutch solenoid from RockAuto?!
Cheap enough..................
And I will try to disconnect the battery for a bit,
cant hurt at all- right?!! :)
I do appreciate all the help so far people, thanks a lot!!
I've been a mechanic for many decades, but got out of
it around 2000. I still do what I can for my car, my girls
car, etc. etc.
I'm an old MoPar guy, BUT- I like anything old with
METAL bumpers.................. lol!
Sincerely, Bob. :)
