give the Search tool a try at the top of the page - search for the CEL code that you got (you should always post the code when you have one, as often someone here has already encountered it).

I have had a misfire code before. That was the question, right?

it showed a miss fire once in a while, we pulled the plug out of map sensor and did not get the miss fire, I think that is what it is called it is plugged into the intake tube that hooks into the air cleaner

Sorry, my sarcasm usually draws more than that.

The TC light will come on for almost any performance related fault.

That is the MAF sensor. The car will barely run if that is disconnected.
RE: the misfire, have you performed the obvious? That being pull #1 plug, maybe switch 2 plugs to see if the misfire moves. If not then switch 2 of the coil packs see if the misfire moves.

But you really need to have an OBDII code reader hooked up and get the code numbers, not the code description.

Did you notice that this is a 3 year old thread?

No, you did not have the same problem he had. He had a misfire problem, you had a problem with the solenoids (assuming your CEL codes were solenoid related).

Changing the solenoids you refer to, to resolve a engine misfire problem like the OP encountered will do nothing to resolve the problem he had encountered.

One needs to understand that having the traction control light on is not THE problem - the traction control light is an indicator that there is A problem. And that problem then needs to be diagnosed to determine what the cause is - ie: a misfire issue, manifold absolute pressure sensor gone bad, or one of the solenoids you referred to going bad.

Look at it in a similar fashion as when the Check Engine Light comes on - the CEL light itself is not the problem, it's an indicator that there is an issue that needs to be looked at, by downloading the error codes. Depending on the error conditions encountered, often the Traction Control is turned off for whatever reason GM in their wisdom decided it must be disabled.

So advising the replacement of the solenoids when the T/C light comes on, is rather bad advice.

The way I have seen is that the T/C light indicates a pending code that's been stored. Not yet a fault. and codes need to be read during that same drive cycle as the code could clear itself out. So if you are driving down the road and your T/c light pops on go home or to a local place that reads codes and have the code read right there, as the next drive cycle could clear the code out.
