09 hhr up and down idle. Bouncing up and down rpm

I heard it might be a sensor. Car idle bounces slightly up and down. Car has stalled maybe a handful of times over the last year or so. Once you get to low rpms in gear, it makes the car jolt back and forth.

Any indication of a CEL, if so, we’re gonna need codes.
It could be dirty throttle body

Oldblue - this is a continuation of his earlier thread back in September - https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/prob...l-4-0-a-60846/

We asked about the CEL being on, and what codes were downloaded - no response. He said it is a 4.0, but he never came back to clarify what engine he actually had.

Robert,
Most parts houses will come out in the parking lot and pull the codes for free. Without codes we are all just guessing.

If you just want us to guess, I would say
  1. Check the fuel pressure
  2. Clean the throttle body
  3. Clean the MAF
  4. Check connections for the wires to the MAF and the IAT
  5. Check the hose from the valve cover to the throttlebody
  6. Hopefully it is not a stretched timing chain.

And we still don't know where the 4.0 comes from. Maybe somebody was joking and put a 4.0 badge on it?

Weld the crankshafts together for a straight eight? They used to do that back in the day on dragsters.
