Transmission HELP !!!

So my Tranny went out friday night, going to cost around 2000 to fix the car. Only problem is Im not a baller like that, dont have the 2 grand laying around....

So I have looked online, plenty of transmission to be had out there for anywhere from 300-600 dollars. I am VERY mechanically inclined, usually do ALL the work to my car, so I think Im going to get adventurous and do the tranny swap myself!

So here is where I could use some help. Anyone have the pages from a service manual to outline the job? Or someone else thats has done it? I cant seem to find anything on the forums......

I have a 2006, with 2.2L and a Automatic transmission.

Any help will be GREATLY appreciated!!!

can you drop the tranny by itself, or does the whole cradle have to come down?

The trouble with a used transmission is that you are just buying someone else's troubles. You live in a pretty big city. I'm thinking there are at least a few shops that do rebuilds for do-it-yourselfers. You might very well be able to get a rebuilt trans for 1k or less.
