Transmission problem
Transmission problem
So I have a 06 HHR, 2.2 automatic. I bought it with high miles. Ran great. I noticed when I would take a sharp turn, accelerating, that it would rev up almost like it was slipping. I changed the filter and fluids, and about a week later I lost my D gear. It will not move in D. However, I can take off in I and at about 40 mph, switch to D, and it will keep going np. Since my D gear went out, I have maybe put 10 miles on it, and I've bought a replacement transmission already. Just really puzzled and honestly at a lose for what it could possibly be. Anyone had similar experience?
The same solenoids are used for both D and I so I don't think the solenoids themselves are bad.
The owner's manual says that I mode provides more engine braking for slight downhill grades and also keeps the transmission from constantly shifting between third and fourth gear.
Maybe I mode provides more fluid pressure that is overcoming worn clutches/bands?

my 06 would shift hard to 2nd and 3rd, also shift hard at a stop into Drive and Reverse. Shut off for 5 min, start up and no problem,
.
did this for a month, about 4x.
then the other day engine revved like slipping.. I coasted to a stop. No D at all. Just Reverse. I drove home in REVERSE.
GETTING towed tomorrow .
I searched forum.
