Has anyone rebuilt a 5 speed transmission on one of these cars? Unfortunately I think that's the only way I'm going to solve the problem of too much play of the CV axle. I've looked for a used one but they are really scarce, i don't have a problem diving into this project but would like to have some sort of guide to help me avoid any pitfalls, a good manual or video would be awesome. If anyone has any suggestions I would really appreciate it. Thank you.

Scarce? The 4t45 trans is used in every 4 cylinder GM vehicle built in the last 15 or so years. The G6 and Saturn Vue have the same final drive ratio.

 

Don the 4T45E is the automatic transmission, the question is about the 5 speed manual transmission

 

Well, then even more of them. Getrag F23 is also used in every 4 cylinder GM.

I can’t believe a used one would be that hard to find. They made millions of them. There has to be a few in the wrecking yards.
Finding all the parts to do a complete rebuild, now that may be hard to source out.

I appreciate the references, thank you. Didn't mean to stir up a hornets nest by saying the 5 speeds aren't available, but the car is in Mexico and oddly there aren't many vehicles like the HHR, Cobalt, etc. where I am despite there being lots of junk yards. Anything I've found has been involved in a head-on accident or the engine and transmission have been removed. Merry Christmas.
