Hi all I have a 2011 HHR with a Transmisson leak at this metal tube looks like it goes from the Transmisson to the engine its leaking on the engine side what is this? Probably going to have take this one to the shop I thought it was the cv axel seals replaced them still have a leak. TIA

 

That aluminium tube? About 2” diameter? That’s the water transfer tube from the thermostat housing to the water pump. That has 2 orings on it and if you have a 19mm deep socket 3/8 drive and a 10mm socket you can charge the orings. First make sure it’s not the water pump leaking.
What colour is the fluid leaking out? Orange? That’s Dexcool. Red is transmission fluid.

 

Your right it is Dexcool not tranny fluid it feels oily. Thanks I will look into this

 

How much is it leaking?

 

not a lot about 1/2 cup under the car in the morning
. going to check tomorrow to see if tis the pump or the pipe seal. If it the pipe seal, I will have a go at it, if it's the pump I'm going take it to the shop

 

1/2 cup in the morning is a lot because under pressure while driving it has to be spewing out

 

Leaking means air in coolant system which make pump cavitate…and not circulate….engine gets hot or hotter

 

Are you sure that's the coolant transfer pipe? It seems to terminate right above the bolt for the flex pipe.
