I had this done recently...the dealer will paint the rockers/fenders for free....but will tell you they suggest you get the running boards to correct the problem. I fought with the dealer, bbb and chevy...the best I could do was running boards painted and installed at cost....it still cost me almost $500 but I would highly recomend getting the boards. I used to get 3 or 4 chips a day on that section of the car...not one since. they did paint everything for free.

My 08 has plastic add on shields on the front of the rear wheel wells.

This must be Chevy's $0.50 fix to the problem.

running boards

Went to the "stealership" the other day and asked about running boards.
Parts looked them up and they could get them primered and installed for $475
Of course I wanted them painted! They directed me to paint and body they looked them up and said it would be $725 installed. I asked "do you work for the same company" ? He said it takes a lot to prep and paint them then install them. I said the price includes installation. Needless to say they won't ever see my HHR.

As mentioned in a previuos thread, I paid $200.00 to the dealer, and they installed new boards. I am very pleased now.

My car is an '06 and I'm in Toronto (Canada).

What color do you want? This link will take you to a posting of part numbers and colors available. We sell the painted ones for $525 and installed price is $605. You can put these on yourself though and save the extra $80.00.

Good price for running boards

Found a place online selling painted running boards for $413.51.

http://www.gmaccessoriesstore.com/

Plus $10 coupon code "10off"

I got painted running boards including shipping for 418.43.

Another place in Frisco, Texas www.yourgmparts.com had them for 373.45, but shipping was high. I guess if you live around Dallas you could pick them up.

www.gmchevyparts.com in Washington State (Bruce Titus Chevy) had them for 392.13. I was quoted $40 shipping to Florida.

www.gmpartscenter.net at Van Chevy in Scottsdale, AZ had them for 390.42, but shipping was $56. Again, if you live in AZ and could pick them up it wouldn't be too bad.

Hope this helps someone get running boards and save some money.
