TSB 06-08-51-002 (04/11/2006) Body - Paint/Body Damage On Rocker Panels
I've read several times that GM will paint the damaged areas for free, 1 time. I assume this only applies if you are the original owner. I am the 3rd owner of my '08, am I hosed in that respect? I'm going to the dealer tomorrow, for an unrelated issue, and I'm going to see about getting boards and would like to know where I stand in advance, the bottoms of the doors are chipped.
Thanks!
Thanks!
I took the Bullet into the dealer to get a key made & he looked at the damaged area, took pictures which he must send to his district manager to get approval for the repair. They don't have an in-house body shop, they farm it out to a local shop which is certified to do GM work. He looked up the running boards & said he could get painted ones for $475 or so, but has to call tomorrow to verify that. Not a bad price for prepainted boards, but I'll have to see if they can go any lower since they won't be having to repaint the rockers on the body shop's end of the deal, we'll see.
Well after nearly 3 weeks I called the dealer service manager, he said he hadn't heard back from his district manager about it yet but would check again & took my cell phone number but hasn't called me 3 business days later.
Am I being impatient or has it been plenty of time for his d.m. to sort it out? Just wondering what my next step should be, I want to get this done before winter hits.

I have running board and paint chipping
I have an 08 2LT with running boards. Mystique blue. Noticed pitting/chipping starting to become noticeable on the right rear door on the curved out fender line. Will mud guards prevent this? 27000 mi.
For those that expect GM to buy them running boards:
IF they gave you free running boards, those that PAID for them could start a class action suit requesting GM reimburse owners for boards they paid for. That is why GM wil lnot pay for running boards.
Those that did get free or discounted boards, if you dig a little deeper you may find that the dealer paid for them out of pocket in order to keep a customer.

Just read this...
Sorry I a new guy... Just bought an '07 LT1 used... Panels by the rear renders are looking pretty beat up.
I can get a dealer to repaint these for free?
Just go to the dealer and be like "paint this" "here's the TSB"?

I have running boards. Noticed on 06, 07? without running boards the area of the door that is getting chipped had body color vinyl like patches covering that area. Are they a dealer option--still available? Cost?
