USB Port Problems
Michelle
I did go to the dealer and explained to them what was happening and that I had read a lot of posts from people with the same problem. He proceeded to explain to me how many HHRs were sold and then comparing the USB problems with that number that is was a real small percentage.
He hadn't heard of the problem but told me to bring it in and leave it for a day and let them check it out. It started working that afternoon so I figured they would have the same results and I would just be back to square one.
I formated my P2 last night and loaded it with 2000 recent songs and set it to Auto-off after 1 minute of pausing so maybe I can live with that. Now I just have to get my wife to remember to pause it when we stop somewhere. lol

Back from the dealership.
The technician was able to duplicate my problem with the USB port skipping every 17 minutes. He reprogrammed the radio with the latest version of their calibration software and, so far, things seem to be working as they should be.
I'll need to take a long drive to see if it is cured though. I only used it for about 30 minutes with no hiccups, so here's hoping.

Didn't take a long drive for about 2 weeks.
But, the problem is back again. Still at the 17 minute mark. It doesn't seem to be as bad as before but is still very annoying. I just may wind up going for an after market set-up. Next to find a good set-up with built-in GPS also.
I happy to report that mine only drops out every now and then. Usually all
I have to do is turn the car off and wait a few minutes and then I am good to go for a good while.
Now up to three USBs with 2405 songs to play with out a repeat.
Only 27 cds left on my wish list.

My USB had been working about 95% of the time with short lapses.
This last week it would stop then restart after shutting the car off.
Now it only plays about a minute and switches to the radio.
I just made a 500 mile trip and used my Mp3 player which works fine but the info doesn't show up on the radio as you have to go through the RCA jack. Mine is a Samsung P2 and not an IPod.
Today I drove a Tucson, Sonota and an Elantra and all three worked fine using the USB port. The Elantra listed for 23.5K and had everything including 7" navi screen, backup camera, heated front and back seats, remote start, sliding moon roof, 340W stereo and pushbutton start. Not only is it loaded but is one sharp looking car with 5/60K bumper to bumper and 10/100k drive train warranty.
If the HHR's trade in wasn't so bad I might have pulled the trigger today on the Elantra.

Might keep the HHR for awhile longer.
Just got back from a 3000 mile trip through New Mexico, Colorado and Kansas.
I ran through one 300 song USB and about 75% through a 1100 song one without a dropout. Go figure.
