VCIM connector C3 Location?
After getting the SS back for dead gauges, I get in the car to head out for a weekend trip and what happens? The same damn thing. There is a TSB that looks relevant, but I don't know where the VCIM connector C3 is located. Since the car won't start, it's somewhat tough to get it back to the dealer to complain about them not fixing the problem. Can anyone shed some light as to where the connector is?

OK, the connector is located on the BCM which is in the center console waterfall, reachable by popping off the fuse panel cover. The connector you're after is the one closest to the floor, carefully check to see that its fully seated, but Do Not remove it unless the battery has been disconnected(you can fry the BCM otherwise).
If the connector is fully seated and you're still experiencing a no-start condition, stop there. Chances are that the pin for connection C-3 has been dislodged, call the dealer and have the vehicle hauled in as they will most likely have to replace that section of the GM LAN harness.
Keep us posted, my confidence in your dealer is a bit shaky after reading your posts on the IC issue, when they can't figure out how to start it...be worried.

Well that's a good question, am I safe in assuming that the dealer's service department doesn't include weekend hours? I'd say that if you have AAA or something like it, you could always have them haul it to the dealer and leave them a present for Monday morning. Do you have any backup transport available to you?
You may find that once you check the connector and give it a wiggle, you'll be up and running for the short term. I'd still take it back to the dealer though as the issue will probably continue to crop up. Also, while you're in there with the BCM, check the other connector for solid engagement just to be safe.

My dealer is open from 8a to 5p tomorrow. I have an Avalanche that the wifey drives, and then there's my two wheeled toy, but it's still a bit chilly in the mornings for sportbike tires. They don't like temps below 50.

Father, contact the Service Dept tomorrow and tell them you want a warranty tow, for work to be done under warranty. Request a flat bed, as it is easier on the HHR. And follow with the Avalanche and go ghere to make sure its handled right.
Sorry to hear your wonderful SS is broken down.
