Vibration
Vibration
Hey all,
My 2007 HHR 2.4 started throwing a code for the exhaust cam and crank not being in sync. I had replaced the timing chains and balance chain 40,000 miles ago with a cheap Amazon kit from. China so I decided to replace it again with the Cloyes kit and also since I was in there I changed the water pump as it had 245,000 miles on it. Well after getting it back together I have a bad vibration all through the car, a buzzing type vibrations that radiates threw the doors and everywhere else. The engine is also a lot louder than it was. I double and triple checked the balance shaft and timing chain timing marks before putting the cover on. I had a less violent vibration about a year ago and changed the right engine mount to fix it. I'm at a loss as to what happened. I've been a mechanic over 50 years before I retired and never had this happen. I'm about to pull the timing cover back off to check everything again but wanted to get ideas first to save me from wasting more time on this thing. I'm looking for a new car but wanted to try and get a few dollars out of this one instead of junking it.

I was afraid of that, guess I'll be pulling the timing cover off. Don't want to but I really need the car until I get a new one. Definitely going to get someone to double check my work this time. At least I think I can correct it without pulling the timing chain.
