Vin # blocked
Hi, I have a problem I've never seen or heard of before. Yesterday I noticed what looks to be a piece of form or rubber of some sort that has come loose under the windshield by the VIN Plate. It has totally covered the VIN#. I have no idea how to fix this other than to remove the windshield or removing the dash. Not really an option. Has anyone else experienced this or does anyone have any suggestions on how I might get in this area to move this piece back out of the way somehow???? I'm hesitant to stick anything in there as I am afraid of getting it stuck or damaging the black that runs along the bottom of the windshield. Any help or suggestions will be very, very much appreciated. It looks really bad.
Thank You and Kind Regards,
Chuck

Moved your photo out here for easier viewing, I'm thinking that you may need to pull the dash top off to get at that. Here's a link to a thread on removing the dash top, its not a five minute job.

Its an interesting problem, time for some forum brainstorming.

Thank you 843de, I tried to put it in my original message but couldn't figure out how to do it. Taking the Dash apart sounds like a very big job, not something I want to entertain, Probably would wind up with rattles afterward, maybe I might have to live with the piece that's come loose???? I'm hoping someone might have had this happen to them and they figured a way to fix it. I was thinking I might be able to move it a little if I slide something between the windown and the dash, I'm just afraid of getting whatever I use stuck or scratching the black out on the bottom of the windshield? Much appreciated. Yes Nacademus, I am the original owner, purchased in August of 2006, has been a great car ever since. Than you all for your replies, I'm hoping some other members may have some ideas as well.

If there's a gap between the windshield and the dash, perhaps a wire coathanger, or mechanics wire (smaller dia. than a coathanger) with a bit of a bend at the bottom to fish out or move the foam around?
