want to put bluetooth in my 2011

I have change the steering wheel to one that has the radio and phone controls ....when I press the phone symbol for 2 second onstar says ready but when I say Bluetooth it does not recognize that command...
I am wondering if I have to change the onstar module at the rear passenger window .I have RPO codes of UE1, US8,UW5, U19 and U2k....any help would be appreciated

There are steps to follow in the owners manual , if your HHR didn’t come with one here’s a link

http://www.vadengmpp.com/owners-manu...vrolet-HHR.pdf

Bluetooth information starts at 4-73 and continues from there several pages. Page 240 of the 444 pages in the online manual.

Yes I went thru the steps of the owners manual as I stated in my original thread ....When I press the phone button for 2 seconds, I get the ready command but no reply to when I say " bluetooth" and "pair"
My HHR originally came with just the cruise control switch on the left hand side and I changed the steering wheel to a wheel with both the cruise on the left and phone and radio controls on the right. from what I am reading is that some connect right away and some talk about having to change a vcim module in the passenger side at the back of car under the window. I thought with the UE1 rpo code meant the car already had the module in it and am asking if this is correct or not ...just trying to find out if any more info is out there ....thanks in advance

UE1 means "Communication System- Vehicle, G.P.S. 1". which ,I think, means OnStar installed.
US8 is standard radio/CD with AUX input.
UW5 is standard 6 speakers
U19 is Kilo odometer
U2K is S-band radio (XM/Sirius)

I think UPF or UWE would be BT. Bluetooth is phone ONLY, in case you were expecting tunes.
If you subscribe to OnStar you can use the cell feature for a price.

Evidently, only cars that came with steering wheel controls had BT. You can acquire a OnStar module w/BT, I believe it is a simple swap out. Try your local salvage yard.

It’s RPO, UPF that’s missing on your HHR

It is behind the quarter trim panel above the battery. A few members have done it and described their experience somewhere on the site. It is evidently a unplug the old plug in the new job. The BT is independent of OnStar; you don't need to pay anyone. I don't recall if the VCIM has to be out of an HHR or not.

Be sure to disconnect the negative post of the battery, OnStar can do things to the car if it gets damaged.
