Water leaking in 2007

Howdy All.......I have a 2007 HHR 2.4 that we purchased to tow 4 down behind the Motor Home. It tows like a dream. I have had it since Dec. and have only one major problem and wonder if anyone else has had the problem or one simular. During heavy rain the floor boards on the driver side front and rear get soaked. As I type it is at the dealer for the 3rd time. I do not have a sun roof. I am not sure if the rain is coming in while driving or as it sets in a down pour and somehow splashes up to soak the floor once I start driving. I thought the problem was solved until the monsoons hit the midwest. Any help will be appreciated.

There have been several owners that have posted on the Forum about water leaks, although most have been on the front passenger side. Guess we are lucky. We've had our HHR 2 Years now, and so far no leaks!
Use the "Search" link at the top of the page and type in "Water Leaks". That should get you some information you might use.

I had a water issue on the driver's side earlier this year.

Here's what I found on mine: Take a look on the driver's door at the hinges. Look at where the electrical harness attaches to the body. Is it tight there? Mine was loose and let water run down the inside, soaking the floor.

I had a dealer friend check and there were only two TSBs, both related to the passenger side.

Even if you do find the leak yourself, take it to the dealer! The padding is part of the carpet and very thick in places. It makes a very efficient sponge and is very difficult to dry.

Good luck!

I also had a water leak on the driver's side. Mine turned out to be a leaking cowl seal. Took the dealer 2 attempts to fix it but it seems to be holding now. Mine is a 2006 2LT. I had to put a towel under the carpet and keep changing it out about every day or so to help dry the carpet and when it was sitting I folded it back and kept a fan on it. As JoeR said ... it is very difficult to dry out. Make sure you get it as dry as possible...or have it changed out. You don't want mold growing.

Good Luck.

Picked up car Wed. The apparent leak was caused by the wire harness unit, looks like a acordian heater hose, between door and frame. The unit is held onto the frame by clips. Well they were not holding tight and rain ran down and into the opening filling up the frame post then overflowing on the driver floorboard and back floot board. They replace unit and sealed tight. Will know if all fixed after next big rain. Will keep you updated.

Water Leak Driver's Side

I had a flood in my HHR on the drivers side floor board and water in the glove box. I took it to the dealer and they installed a gasket in the heater box. This seems to have fixed the problem. Yesterday I drove home from work in the same very heavy rain that caused the problem the first time. My carpet is dry this morning. If anyone knows anything about Houston, when it rains, it really rains.
