water leaking from exhaust

Water is leaking from the joint between the cat section and the muffler section. I have replaced the gasket 4 times now. Seems to be the "normal" amount of water produced by a cat. Not spewing water, not losing coolant.

Yes, I cleaned the old gaskets off of the flange faces (with a file to be sure it's flat).

Do you think this may mean a bad (clogged) resonator and/or muffler?

Oldblue, your muffler is in my mind.

If it's just dripping with no force behind the drip, I would think the resonator and muffler are not clogged.
Now if it spews or sprays out that leak, then you could have something clogged that creates too much back pressure.

For the leak. Have you tried any of the muffler repair putty that's available ?
I used that back in my old hot rod days. V8 headers were always leaking at the collector joint. I would coat the new collector gaskets with that putty before installing.

Just new gaskets, 3 different types. It is definitely get past the gasket, Today 10 minutes idling left a small puddle, less than an ounce.

Yeah, as FMG mentioned "muffler cement" as we call it up here should do the trick to seal it up.

Permatex copper is recommended for stuff like this. You want something that stays flexible under high temps.

I agree with Prod . Clean up the two surfaces and apply the copper silicone to both sides of the gasket. I used this to seal the header flanges on my pickup.
