I have the same problem. I've been to the dealer 3 times and it still isn't fixed. At $700.00 a pop it is getting to be a bit much.
I mentioned the cowl leak issue, and they said they never heard of it.

Other than the water issue, I love the car.
Has anyone had any luck contacting Chevy directly?
I have a service complaint in, but they seem to be bling to this issue as well.

For water on the front floor of the HHR that is attributed to the cowling leak, tell the dealer to check....

TSB #07-08-57-001a dated 01/24/2007

And, I hate to be a jerk about this....but the Dealer Service Department gets a notification every month with tips to "Get It Right The First Time" and the following tip has been given about 12 times in the past 18 months.....Your dealer is lazy.

2006-07
HHR – Front and rear carpet wet, water/blower motor inoperative
Install new butyl patch
Don't reinstall old butyl patch using RTV.

mine has been in a total of 5 times now for this leak, 4 at our local dealer and now 1 at the dealer where I bought it aout 40 miles away. They found 3 separate leaks and it took them 5 hours to find them, one was a body leak behind the right front fender area. I wish I could say this fixed it but after our last rain there was a tiny wet spot. They dramatically improved it but I will have to take it back again. If I back it into the driveway it doesn't leak, if I park it forward it does. I just checked it after a storm where one of the house windows even leaked and it is dry as a bone.

Angry persistant water leaks

I, too, have the mysterious water leaks in my 2006 HHR LT. It has been in the repair shop five times when water has pooled under the accelerator pedal and also beneath the doors and onto the floors both sides, front and back, soaking the carpets several times. The dealer has reset the windshield and replaced the seal, and replaced the vapor barriers in all the doors, as well as the seal around the drivers side window. I was told they could not find any leak and they know nothing about this problem with other HHR's. I do not know if it still leaks because it is winter now and we haven't had any rain but I doubt that it is fixed. My windows and doors are frozen shut all the time and if it wasn't for my remote starter to get it thawed out, I'd never be able to get inside it! I like my HHR, but am VERY unhappy with this issue.

petalpusher I would be heading to a different dealership and tell them the problems you have been having. If your dealership hasn't heard about the water leak problem they have been on a space mission or something. This has been one of the most common problems with the 06 and more than one person has had their HHR replaced by GM over it. It took them 5 hours of running water on mine to find the leak last time.

I have only been back to the dealership with this issue. Most recently they "gave" me an extended warrantee to 54,000 miles but the policy says it does not cover water leaks nor any problems arising from pre-existing issues. So I don't know what good that does me. I have all the Lemon Law paperwork filled out for the next time it leaks. But really I just want to feel good about the car I purchased!

Angry Stained Carpet

My HHR is in the shop again for water leak problems. This time I saw the water leaking from the top of the windshield running down the glass an onto the dash. They are resetting the glass and replacing the carpet. It has been in the shop since last Thursday. They say it maybe ready Wednesday morning. They are testing for all leaks. Let's hopw they find them all. Love the HHR, hate the floods.
