Wet floor....and more

So, after a heavy rain, I got a swimming pool on the pass side floor. After a quick search, found that the likely culprit is the butyl patch under the windshield/cowl trim

But, ironically, now I'm having a blower issue. The blower fan runs, at all speeds, but no air comes out of any vents, no matter which location I have selected. Where would a good area be to begin? I assume pulling the glove box where the blower motor is and checking things out? Thanks!

Oh, and btw, it's a 2006 HHR

Wet cabin air filter, soaked blower motor, first places I suggest you look at.

Clean out under the cowl and clear the drain(s). Check blower and cabin filter.

Once it stops raining, I'm pulling the cowl, cleaning, and inspecting the square rubber sheet, and will clear the drains if accessible from there.

I didn't even think about the cabin filter, judging by the amount of water I got, I bet it's soaked enough to block airflow. But, again, will have to wait for this crazy rain to stop.

Is the inside of the car being flooded now, or have you put some kind of a cover on it?

I moved it under a big tree, blocking most the rain

Ok, rain let up enough to quickly give things a once over. Cabin filter was soaked and covered in leaves and other debris.

Troubling discovery, and idk how I never noticed it, is the cowel does not sit tight against the windshield. There's a what I would call big gap. I assume this is not kosher?

I is not supposed to be tight just there, the bolts that hold it are pretty far from the windshield. It is cosmetic only.

It’s the cowl opening for the hvac system that’s letting all the water in!

Some links and the part number for the patch and a couple of videos
