Problems/Service/RepairsIf you have a problem with your HHR, want a tip on repairing or performing a particular service to you HHR here is the place to post!
I have an 07, with obvious center console window controls.
I need a 2007, a 2009-2011ish and a two window panel diagram.
as follows if it matters:
Due to a monster that charades as a step daughter, the rear switches in this 07 were removed, basically switch lever removed and remaining switch stuffed behind the panel and the cover caps used in later 2010ish model inserted over the original switch spot, Reinstallation parts ready should it ever matter. No melt down if asked to roll a window up or down... you know the hold the switch routine to prevent window moving while whining like a jet engine....
To point. I really really would like to modify the car to use the same window switches as for a 2010, in part or in whole... just to make things easier. For example, maybe just using Panel HHR switches for the front doors only, while possibly maintaining the window controls in the center. basically at least the front two doors from the drivers door, maybe even add a passenger switch? I think they did not have center switches in any panel...
So, you want to rewire all of the doors? Don't need a diagram for that, you make your own then install.
Since you seem to think it will help: 2007windows.pdf2010windows.pdf
thank you. It is most helpful. My biggest issue is junk often accumulates upon the current switch location. Cannot get family members to stop. Take it or leave it.
I already evaluated the the idea of simply gutting the car and installing newer type door switches and all related wiring. That requires removing the drivers door and routing out the holes for the larger loom boot, and then installing everything. Pretty straight forward. Gives me a cubby. And I have almost everything to install.
But I was thinking of a more complicated route: The rear doors have redundant switches, by studying the diagram I might be able add a single redundant switch to each front door, possibly using two newer style passenger door switch plates or newer rear door switch plates(are they the same? need to check), or a panel version drivers switch as a redundant for the most needed windows in the front door. This leaves the switches on the console.

I think you are wrong about 2006-2008 panels, in 2009 they changed all to on the door. 2008 SS had them on the door.
You probably don't know that the internal architecture of the front doors is different too.
If it bothers you enough to totally redesign the interior you might as well just buy a 2009-2011. After you see the differences in the wiring you'll see what I mean.
Why is there logic in the later model switches? time to study one.
I am confused on the panel... I see 2 window door style switches offered for 2007 up, the first year of the panel.... i do not see a 2 door console type switch...but that is not important... the argument doesn't really affect me... but it would be nice to know...
I see and have the info I need. Based on the 2007 diagram, I see a simple plan. All I need a proper third wire run to each door from the hot that feeds the switch to install a redundant switch. This could be easy peasy. Hard part is the cosmetics of which switch and switch plate type to use.
He wants to move the window switches to the front doors.
I think the reason for logic in the later years was to make it easier to make the windows automatic with remote locking, which is not implemented.
There are window switches available with bezels. I GoOgled and got lots of options.
Switches won't be hard to figure out. I have massive part piles. I want it to look and function good... I know of a few low profile panel mount options.
For giggles here are two possible renditions:
Done. As wired, they are utilizing the existing diode within the switch.
I do see it is possible that the autodown module might be in danger. I am ok with bypassing it. A used switch is cheap if I damage it. Nothing is permanent until I know it is good.
Freaking interesting Idea: the rear window switches fit where the front door lock switch is. The diagram I modified is using rear window switches could stuff them in the door lock holes. Have keyfobs anyhow. Move to a single switch at the top of dash, like by the foglight switch. space open, looks natural, job done. Maybe use the bezeled switch that many Suburbans have in the right C-pillar!
but... I need a door lock diagram for an 07 now. lol
