Also agree with battery my car had funny starting issue and it turned out to be caused by the battery going bad! It was the original one too!!!! Lasted 10 years!

 

I’m sorry I know this thread is old but I have a 2007 Chevy cobalt LT that’s bought off a friend that took it to Juarez after a car accident to have the engine rebuilt and body fixed and wanted to know has anyone found out the reason the 07 cobalt would stall once I turn on the windshield wipers I keep thinking it has to be one of my computers simply because my car accelerates slowly it shifts gears oddly (like sometimes the rpm will go high before shifting and other times it’ll shift before it even hits 300 rms) it won’t start with the key and also my battery drains to the point where I have to buy a new one if I leave it connected for more than a hour it all started after a radio was installed or so I was told

 

First off, this is a site dedicated to the Chevrolet HHR, not the Cobalt.
if the problem started when the radio was installed, then look at that wiring harness for a short.

 

Somebody wired something wrong.

 

Hmm. Ever thought about using a battery charger ?

 

That would indicate a short to ground somewhere

 

I imagine there are some good sparks when you disconnect the battery.

I'm not understanding what you mean by it has trouble accelerating and shifting, but then you say that it won't start. Has the car ever worked properly for you, or you bought it this way?
