Wish to add pillar post gauge to 2010 SS

I have a 2010 SS. Some where I read that I can add the pillar post gauge to my car which has the RPD setup where the storage space use to be. Am I correct in assuming that the wiring may already exist in the pillar. The battery was removed for winter storage. If this new pillar post gauge can be added, can I assume that by removing the existing post, that the air bag will not be a problem. Thanks for your help.

You can remove the trim without disturbing the airbags. You could do that and look see if the wiring is there, it may be.

The "airbag" on the bolt hole plug is for information not warning. The airbags are under the headliner.

What's removed battery got to do with it?

A search of "pillar" turned this up:

I thought that the air bag was inside the pillar. I was afraid that if I tampered with it, that it might set off the air bag. Hence the removal of the battery

An excellent and easy (did I mention EASY?) addition to our rides - it took me 15 minutes.

I found new pillars at gmoutletparts.com for around $100 (includes the vacuum/boost gauge!) - shipping is around $15 more. I really like having it - and all you have to do is plug it in!

Good luck

Many of us have done this mod. The empty plug is there under the pillar. Both the RPD and pillar gauge will read boost at the same time.

I just did this today picked up a factory gauge and pod for 40 bucks off ebay. Plugs right in and works perfectly super easy install. The airbag just mounts in the a pillar it's a side curtain so no need to worry about it.
