XM Radio Weirdness

I just bought my HHR less than a week ago and the XM radio doesn't always display the station and song. When I start the car, it will initially show the right station name and song but the minute the song changes it doesn't update. If I change the station, the station name disappears and the song from the first station will show up. Even the radio ID won't appear on Channel 0. If I press the i button, it says no information. But then every once in awhile I start the car and the XM works okay. Is the radio the issue or the signal from XM? I tried resending the signal too and that didn't help.

Thanks in advance.

That's common in a weak coverage area, like a building is directly to your south.

Check the "sticky" section and you will find a TSB posted by Chevy MGR about this very problem. The TSB number is 09-08-44-009a. It describes the same problem that you are having. Make sure that your vehicle meets the criteria for that bulletin.
Mine does it also. It's intermittent and seems to reset itself when you turn the ignition off for a few minutes. I haven't had time to get into the dealer to have it checked.

Thank you for all the replies. Turning the car off and on again wouldn't fix the issue. So when I took it into my dealer to have a dent/paint chip fixed, I showed the service manager what was happening. He said they would replace the radio. I've driven 2 loaner cars from this Chevy dealer with the same radio and none of them had the issue so I figured it was a bad radio.

Well, it did it again today. Luckily I was able to take it to the dealer. After some discussion I gave them the TSB number. They pulled the information up on the computer, did their tests (to get the radio number) and ordered a new radio for it. New radio should be here next week.

My service department replaced the radio and all is working fine so far They ordered it and got it in the next day. Luckily it didn't really delay getting my car back which was good. I hated the Traverse they gave me as a loaner.
