Manual VS Auto 1/4 Mile racing facts
[QUOTE=THE BATMAN;654641]

I got to say it's pretty special doing 70mph in the speed lane ,and the jammer car in front of you is sitting at 70 mph with a hundred car lenths to the next jammer car , And you drop to 3rd do a right lane pass back into speed lane and ease off at over a hundred mph just a few seconds later .
I'm sure that makes you feel good ,to be only one on the gas, and think you just outran everyone. My Hero! "Moon"
P.S. Hey Bat: You still hanging upside down and crapping on the floor?LOL "Moon"

A very good technique at the dragstrip either with a stick shift or an automatic transmission is to actually listen and feel your car the first 100 feet. For stick shift owners, the worst thing you can do is pop the clutch hard and spin the tires. A better way to launch is to hold the rpm at around 3k and when your ready to go, feather the clutch out as you add more throttle. Shift into 2nd gear at only 4500 rpm's (short shifting) and feed the clutch and gas faster. By the time your through 2nd gear and you worked everything properly. you should have a 1.9-2.2 60 ft time.
Now for the automatic transmission people. Turn off your wet traction. do not powerbrake the vehicle unless you have a turbo. then you should have slicks and only push the rpm to about 2k. Basically you actually want the tires to slightly spin for about 30 feet for maximum traction and takeoff. If you control the power vs tires you should have about a 10% difference to your actual speed and speed of your tires. hope this helps.
