Manual VS Auto 1/4 Mile racing facts
Auto may win straight line tuned to same specs as a manual, never saw any mention though of an even playing field tune and part-wise and drivetrain loss being factored in.
Have fun with the ratio's in a short auto-x course as well, I still love my manual. A clutch and then a transmission later, I wouldn't change my mind today if I could
.
Added manual pro: the woman can't drive it, nor has no desire to

Ya i hate baiting a car roilling threw 1st, then stompin on it , And leavin them ,
STREET WISE ,
STICK WIN"S OVER auto. IMO. But i'll always go rare over common, regarless.
Now if i was sporting an auto ,. i may have some differing thoughts.

Just trying to keep it real up in the field, Ight !!!!
Thought this would be interesting on the whole manual vs AT thing.
Stock zl1's with Drag radials running at the strip by Gm engineers.
Not the Manual ran 1 mph faster but the Auto posted a slightly better et.
a local machinist here is running low 9's with a stick in a sbc Naturally aspirated mustang gt. in the quarter.
but on the other hand a friend of mine is running high 7's in a street driveable car with a drag radial and a 2 speed power glide.
the guys out there running 4.XX in the eigth are using the current automatic converter technologies to get these cars to hook and run these numbers.
In our club and from what I have seen most people will not run the sticks much past the high 10 second mark.
I run an auto in my black coupe and will be running one with a tranny brake in the next couple months.
In and around my area it seems every ss that comes up is a stick so I guess its where these cars got sold and what got ordered.
I like driving my 55 chevy with a stick but when I am city driving It gets old real quick.
I will take an auto any day as far as what I prefer to race with or drive on a daily basis .
With my SS I love cruising along and not even downshifiting and just feeling the car pull with its long power curver.still amazes me that the motor is a 2.0L

A roll , There's never a race while your rolling .

Funny, I've never seen a drag race start with a roll. New deal the street racers started, when they have trouble launching their car from a stop. Not real racing folks.
My orignal post refered to drag strip only, and not from a roll, or any other made up deal.
Seems like manual guys, don't want to admit, they are driving a dinosuar. "Moon"
