New speakers
New speakers
As time has progressed from the last 3 years of ownership, I have slowly lost all but the front drivers speaker. All other speakers, including the pillar tweeters are dead.. I think it's time to fix that problem.. SO. Recommendations on what to get, and for what money?
Unless you are an audiophile, I had the door speakers replace a year or so ago as one speaker was "crackling". I went to a local audio shop and had them install four Power Base speakers in the car for $200. If all speakers went dead at once, there may be a wiring issue at the source.
you mgiht be able to get away with using them but then you might need to cut out some panelling..
from a quick search it looks like either 5 3/4 or 6 1/2 speakers from the LeSabre and if i remember correctly the HHR is 5 1/4 so you mgiht be able to get away with it or make some small modifications....best thing would be to take apart the door (since you have to anyway) and try to bolt on the Bose speaker and see if it fits in there and fits with the door panel back on as well

You will need adapters if you have the base stereo as the speakers and adapters are one piece. But if you have the amplified system then the adapters are already there as seperate pieces.
I cringe at the thought of this happening to my ride, but it is time for trial and error for fitment, I do like the Bose speaker idea but they are ten years old, if you have them then go for it, but I would purchase new speakers if you have to pay for the Bose speakers..... best of luck!!
Bose (shudder) is not the end all beat all speaker. Besides GM Bose is not true Bose, which can be good or bad depending on what side of the fence you are on. Bose GM speakers may not only be a physical size difference but also an impedance difference. I have seen Bose speakers at 1.3, 2.6, 4, 6, 8 ohm etc. Why does this matter? Because the stock HHR deck is designed to work with 4 ohm speakers. If you deviate from this the Bose speaker may play louder or softer then the factory ones and also may cause the factory deck to shut down the amp because of too low an impedance.
My 1st piece of advice: look at Pioneer, Clarion, Rockford, Alpine, etc. Even a mid-level pair of aftermarket speakers will kick the ass of the factory HHR ones.
2nd piece: don't buy Bose. Overpriced, underbuilt, over-advertised. And I was a dealer of them for 6 years, one company that I have sold, but never owned!
