I'm excited to be maybe going. Doing the math and working 7 days a week and possibly being able to save almost 1,XXX a month or more. Would have to purchase maybe a few days or a week in advance to this trip. But someone correct me if iam wrong... isn't it bad for the engine during the break in period (first 1500 to 1900 miles) doing more than 50 and having RPM's over 3,000

Naah, as long as you vary the RPM a little once in awhile, it'll be fine...people use brand new cars for long road trips all the time! There really isn't a "break-in period" like the old engines. It will loosen up some over time though, giving you a bit better mileage!

Thanks for those of you who have responded to my PM already. This will help Tim with getting info on room rates etc. Looks like there is plenty of interest for a cabin so this should be a definite go and we've seen some very nice ones online. We will also be looking at some Hotel options for those that want to go that route. For those of you have not responded yet, please do so even if you are not sure if you are coming.

New Info!

Things are going very well in finding options for this meet.

Dolly's Dixie Stampede looks like a great event for us. They have sent me info and they can accommodate whatever group size we come up with. They also offer a terrific discount when booking as a group. I'll detail the info for everyone in another post.

There are a lot of cabins, chalets and hotels/motels to choose from, so am gathering information on those that meet our needs for size, location and price range. Thanks to everyone who responded to Hillsdale's PM. It helps to know what people are interested in so I can find the right stuff.

The Tail of the Dragon is very close to Gatlinburg and looks quite interesting. Very picturesque! There are even photo companies that shoot pics as you drive down the highway that you can purchase afterward. I see some great pics in our future -- a string of HHRs heading down the road! There are great group shots that I found of Ferrari, Corvette and motorcycle owners groups driving down the winding road. Very cool!

Stay tuned ... I'll have more information very shortly!

Received a Planner Guide for Pigeon Forge in the mail. Lots of Accomodations, Attractions, Dining, and Shopping to choose from. Looks like the place has grown immensely since I was there in the mid 90's.
