feel free to toss in your thoughts. and c2vette, if you see this, any ideas?
My suggestion...for those of us that are going no matter what. Meet up as planned, and decide from there. Kris and I will make it up there, If we can't cruise...that is fine, we will hang with our HHR breathen! Todd (Uma) 714-926-0209

My main concern would be the folks coming from Southern CA and getting through SB to Santa Ynez Valley. So check www.keyt.com, and the road condition link before you head out. I will also post an update from what I know early tomorrow morning. The fire is moving close to 154 right now, and as I write this they shut it down. Another link http://www.countyofsb.org/ceo/dept0.aspx

There really are some good options to your original route, so meeting in the morning and making last minute plans is a fine idea. For example: From Buellton head over to Los Olivos on Ballard Canyon Road, then out Foxen Canyon to Alisos Canyon, then to Los Alamos, and then other options from there. If 154 is open, then Cold Springs could still be an option (up and back from the SY side).

But the winds are calming and it's getting cooler - maybe it won't be an issue? I want you guys to GO, even if I can't!

Hey all--be safe and have a great time! Look forward to all the pics!
Do it up like only the California HHR's can do.

As you are all quite aware, this fire is very unpredictable and subject to rapid change. I was surprised to see how large the plume of smoke still is this morning, Normally these big fires die down overnight with increased humidity, cooler temperatures, and less wind, but this is still huge. Traffic cam shows reasonable traffic flow on 101 right now (but obviously smokey) http://video.dot.ca.gov/asx/D5-Patterson-Ave-at-101.asx

okay, we are definitely going to have to plan another route, as the 154 is closed, as i was informed upon arriving at work last night. i have an idea i am going to look at, and Kristin and I will have my laptop so we can discuss some options before heading out in the morning.
