SoCal HHRs Night at the Drive-in
SoCal HHRs Night at the Drive-in
This was a great idea from Sindy
I found a great location too.

It is pretty centrally located for our group. I spoke to the guy that runs the place yesterday. For car clubs they will allow us to come in 2hrs early approx.5:30pm and hang out before the regular crowd comes in. We just pay regular admission $7 for adults and $1 for children. We can all park together and pick our best spot. They will allow us to bring in food but prefer that we purchase drinks from the snack bar which will be opened early for us.
I asked about having our own choice of movie but we would have to buy out the theater for the nominal fee of $10,000. I thought we would pass on that. However we can choose what movie we want to see from their current running pictures.
So lets get our heads together and pick a date, perhaps a Saturday night in August or early September? Whatever works for the most people. Once we have the date nailed down I will make flyers and we need to make this our end of Summer Blow-Out! Everyone is welcome HHR or not. Lets fill this place up.
Our goal should be 30 HHRs for this event which means lots of new people.

Rules of Engagement...
Don here are the official rules. Some we like and some we don't. I think we will be able to mingle and as long as we don't cause a disturbance we should be fine.
BTW: Glad to be back!

Yeah Tim!
Missed you, friend!
I'm free after 8.22.08. I think some folks were going to Solvang that weekend and the next weekend is labor day (and, my b-day weekend
). Not sure how this would work as an end-of-summer thing.
At this point, even doing this 7.19.08 may be a good idea too (since we can't seem to decide on what to do!)
I don't have to go--majority should rule here and yous all pick a date that works for everyone else.

I have never been to the Tiki but have been to the Riverside drive in. We went with 2 other couples and backed our trucks in so we could sit in the beds. We brought a futon and blankets:)
I don't know if they allow a bbq but we brought in food and ****tails. No one bothered us (30 years old so maybe we didn't look like kids)
Make sure you bring jumper cables....I would say atleast 20 people had dead batteries after the 2nd movie was over.
Probably be game for this with another buddy that is picking up a SS if were in town

Me and my 2 Cents
This is practially in my backyard. We go to the drive-in once in a blue moon. They have a big swap meet on the week end. I'm sure we could do this. If you really want to promote it maybe the 19 of July would be too soon? And Aug. is pretty full. Just for planning maybe a Friday or Saturday in Sept. would be the best?
