2008 HHR SS Brake issue/buy back
The fix should not be too far our as they will need to fix the 08 and already built 09 models.
I suspect we may hear something by NOV.
Keep you ears and eyes open as we may see the news here before any notice being sent out.

I just dont understand why you guys/gals dont just let the car warm up and idle down for a min. before you take off....I know thats not a real fix but jeeze make GM buy back the car for some thing they are working on and also some thing that takes just a few seconds of warm up to fix.
I didn't have to do too much to get it bought back. I pretty much explained to the service manager my concerns and she agreed if they couldn't get a fix from GM within a a few weeks that she would order me a new one. So I agreed with that, they gave me a rental and called me back in a few weeks later and let me order my new one. I never got angry or demanded anything I just told them that I was concerned about safety and the lawsuits that could arise from a car without brakes.
I explained the same thing to my service writer, and he also understood. I am still in the rental, and have been for about a week now, but I am growing anxious here. I want my car back, operating properly, but I do appreciate the feedback.
and I still have another 6+ weeks till I get my replacement. How many miles are on the car and how long have you had it?
I guess if they decide to put the buy back through, I will have to exchange again, becasue I refuse to drive this behemoth for another two months.
The car has about 3300 miles on it, I bought it on July 5th with about 500 miles on it. I am also on my third rental car in six days. I had issues with a new Malibu, an 09 HHR, and am now driving an F-150. The reason I got into the SS in the first place was to save on gas.

yep thats all it takes....after about 15 seconds or so just feather the gas lightly and it normally drops down to 20 alot faster, then you're good to go
My father had a 90's subaru legacy non-turbo that had a separate vacuum pump just to run the vacuum cruise control. We figured that they just used the same system on all the turbo and non-turbo cars. I guess GM went the opposite route.
That cruise control had no problem holding the throttle wide open when the resume button was pressed.
