2008 HHR SS manual trans clunk

I need some help ! I have a clunk noise when letting off accelerator and reapplying it , coming from what sounds like the transmission ? There is also that noise when pushing in clutch and letting out when shifting gears. . I have replaced both LCA's, struts and bushings, sway bar end links, brakes, rotors and calipers. I have also replaced top motor mount on the passenger side. If I jack up drivers side and rotate the wheel forward and reverse there is some play and it makes sort of the same sound. The transmission mounts look okay. Am I missing something ? Any clues ? I've read through alot of the articles here but they really don't describe exactly what I am experiencing. Thanks in advance for the help all !

Hmm. Since you've checked all the mounts, based on the above in red, take a look at the bell housing bolts. It's a long shot but you may have a loose transmission where it bolts to the engine block.

Thanks. Could you clarify? Do you mean the inner ends of the half shafts? I seem to get 2-3 degrees of play there (1/4" or so at the tangent of the brake disc.) Both sides. Seemed like a lot. None at the outer ends.

I believe the axle has a CV joint built into it. That is the likely part to wear out.
