AFR on RPD no data available

Hey everyone, my 09 SS has recently lost the AFR reading on the RPD. It is currently tly throwing no codes for O2 sensors nor does it have any stored or pending codes. I was wondering if anyone has had this issue before and was able to fix it?

Welcome
Check the plug on the MAF sensor. If it actually says NO DATA on the AFR screen, then I would think something is just unplugged. Is that the only reading that you've lost ?

I had lost the cam phaser angle recently and have replaced both actuators. However the AFR reading had just stopped displaying prior to replacing the actuators. It randomly started to work later on after running around town for some errands. I guess I'll just wait for it to display no data available once more and try and do more troubleshooting then.

Or just unplug the MAF check for loose pins and plug it back in secure.

When I had the P0010 code for a bad intake actuator, this is how the RPD would show the intake side not working. The needle would just bottom out on zero on that side of the gauge. I never got got a "NO DATA" display. I think you'll only get a no data if something is unplugged or disconnected.
(I did replace both my solenoids. RPD gauge reads fine now )

If you replaced the VVT valves you unplugged the MAF. Did you re plug it securely?

AFR data should be coming from the o2 sensors.

I guess the data from the MAF is necessary also.

Actuators??? Did you really replace the VVT actuators, AKA “phasers,” or did you replace the solenoid valves, or the camshaft position sensors? A failure of any one of those would result in what should be recognized by the ECM as no or obviously bad data. I would love to know for sure how the RPD would respond in each case.

That pic is exactly what I’m talking about. Great info.

Camshaft position sensor, located on driver’s side of the head, there’s another one on the exhaust side. Tells the computers what the camshaft degrees are

Camshaft actuator solenoids, controls oil flow to the camshaft phasers , which are bolted to the camshaft and driven by the timing chain

These are the phasers They all work together in the VVT system

Since the valves control the phasers the semantics get confused. "Valves" become "actuators" because the actuate things. "actuators" becomes "solenoids" because they change states. To be factual a "solenoid" is the electrical part of the VVT valve assembly. Mechanics and parts guys aren't smart enough or don't take the time to understand what books say.

But the pix Oldblue posted are the correct nomenclature.
