Trip last week: Chicago to San Antonio via I57 thru Cairo to Little Rock,Texarkana, Dallas then to San Antonio.

First tank avg 63MPH = 31MPG
Tank 2 avg 58MPH = 34.5 MPG
3rd partial tank 63 MPH = 30.8 MPG

Tank 2 allowed for 50 miles more on a 14 gal fill-up but the difference in MPH (5) on a ten hour trip you must drive an extra 45 min. or so to go the same distance. At $3 a gallon you save about $4.50. So it comes down to a value of you time - 45 min extra drive time to save $4.50. (unless my math is faulty) Coin toss for many of us?

Loved the drive. First long trip and I had no problems. I thought I might feel a bit cramped but was presently surprised with the comfort of the seat. I do think that the cruise control was a "must have". I was by myself so the passenger seat and floor board was my snack locker- CD holder etc.

I feel better now, got 27 before stg-1 and new tires getting now 21 to 24.7 we'll have to see on this tank its 70% 92octane and the rest 101 octane it will probably be worse its just way too much fun to light it up but that's the object of the exercise for me If I wanted to putt around getting good mileage I would have bought a 2lt I liked the interior better, or a smart car ( looks like Russian roulette to me) No offense Geg,just what they call it.

SSfan You have a different kind of animal compared to my LT. I think they put a heavier gas pedal on a SS (tongue in cheek)

Animal is a good word to describe it I think the pedal is identical it's what happens when you mash it that is differen't

In warm weather, I average about 27-29 mpg.

In cold weather, about 25-26 mpg.

Gasoline companies are forced to sell some sort of "winter blend" that kills mileage.

My '09 SS has 71,000 on the clock.

C'mon... SPRING!!!

Best Tank ever = 31 Mpg.

I'm looking into Trifecta dual tune I'm told it can be wired to the cruse button. ON around 300hp OFF 235 (stock) tune. With gas going up and rumor of even more might be a good button to have.Race on,race off.If it true I'll save plenty to cover the cost.

I've had my SS now for a year now and adding the power upgrade didn't seem to affect the MPG in the long run. I thought I saw a bump but I think it's turned out to be a wash.

I average 26-27 MPH city/hwy (which is a lot of in town and some hwy) and 30-32 steady hwy at 70MPH. I just drive normally without a lot of WOT runs. I can't say the winter blend has affected it any either.

Good enough for my needs.

Winter, remote start, and my 1 mile commute to work kill my MPG. I'm currently getting about 17.
