K&n air intake and programming.

Hey everyone. Thank you for your help ahead of time
but. I just recently bought a 08 as 2.0l and the stock air box lid it broken and taped up and the intake tube has a air leak due to a crack in it. And I not near ready for tuning thier more I want to due when I go to get it tuned . But I am looking at

7-3069 K&N PERFORMANCE AIR INTAKE SYSTEM.

and this reuses the stock bottom but replaces the lid, tube ,& filter for more flow. Has anyone installed this kit? And if so did u have to get the tune done? ... I know I may not see the power gains but at least I am hoping to be able to drive the car with out having to tune the car

Welcome to the site, if you send hellshotrod a PM he might have the OEM parts you need, just click on his name and a window will drop down then click on send message. David is a great source of HHR parts

First off I too(also) have an SS.
When you say "air tube" is it the hose going to the air box ?
If it is and the top lid is broken the only thing that will happen is the engine will be getting hotter air going into it.
The lid helps to keep the stock air filter in place also.
You don't need a tune if you install the K&N filter.
Pictures of the top lid and tube would help also.
What is a lib hose ?
Use your spell check.

He’s a fair guy, as he says in his ad in the classified ads, he might just charge you shipping!

The tube is meant to be a bit less restrictive than the stock one, so should only benefit during high-flow. The filter isn't any bigger but it clamps on instead of slips on, so less risk of falling off I guess, and it's cleanable for re-use, a marginal benefit, as they claim you can go up to 100,000 miles between cleanings. The tube is probably easy to patch up for the econo-fix. I have a lid I'd sell cheap. PM me.
