Muffler ordeal....

I have had about 4 different exhaust setups:
In order

Stock
Muffler delete
Back to stock
Resonator delete & stock muffler
Flowmaster 40 deltaflow& resonator delete
Back to stock muffler & resonator delete (current)

I was in search of good sound, but caught a snag along the way. The flowmaster was pretty much the opposite of its name. I made the mistake of trusting the pep boys tech, and d welded on the new muffler. It sounded great idle, and at light acceleration. As soon as I romped on the gas, this annoying sound came from under the car. Sounded like a bad exhaust leak, and was much louder than the exhaust itself. I checked all my welds, searchedfor a leak, checked to see if heat shield was rattling,nothing... So today I chopped off the flowmaster and went back to stock....sound gone!

I assume this was a flow issue with the muffler. From what I read, I understand that mufflers with baffles aren't the best for the LNF. But this sound was awful, and I hope I didn't hurt the turbo or anything.....also the genius at pep boys who told me my car only existed with the 2.2 or the 2.4, can have his "slowmaster" back

I am guessing you where dealing with the typical flowmaster resonation.
O. A v8 they are the best sounding muffler in my opinion.
I have also been inside modding these in the past as well.
Basically they are welded pieces of steel you can google the pic
Problem with flowmasters is they normally create a resonatio. Inside the car
I see no possible way in which this could have hurt your turbo they do flow almost as good as a straight pipe

The other thing is, my car would barely hit 20 pounds of boost. Stock muffler is back to 23+ psi

I have had enough! I am going to stay with the stock muffler and resonator delete... it has a hair more grumble than stock...I will invest my $100 for the flowmaster on a forge BPV (I think)

You might try a different Flowmaster, I am tickled with mine. sounds great with no drone. I used HP2 shorties, a pair of them.
