After finally getting warmer weather, while doing an Oil Change I looked into this again.
the lower sensor still looks fine, no scratches or bare wire, nothing. No codes have ever popped up on my car, and its had this issue on n off for 3 months.
I drilled a little hole in the metal in front of the rad and zip tied the intercooler tube to pull it away from the AC compressor 3/16" or so. Drove around all weekend with ZERO issues, so I am going to say it was the lower sensor afterall.
Mind you it has only been 2 days, but so far so good

It will look all normal and such..but if you play with the wires you'll see where it broke thru..its when the harness gets smushed against the compressor that the wire coating pulls and bares the wires, generally right where the wires enter the sensor...if all works well and no more issues, apply a layer of rtv at that area so the water doesnt get in there and cause problems on down the road.

I would recommend moving the IC forward to fix this properly. You do need to unbolt the bumper cover but all you need is a couple fender washers under the IC bolts on the bumper and this will clearance the Map from the AC for good.
I was one of the first to find this here and I just used piece of Roll Bar pad and it stopped doing this right away. The GM engineer who over saw this kit recommended the IC shim and it fixed it all and I had not see a repeat of this issue since.
I would be worried a Zip tie in time may fail of slip.
