New HHR SS OWNER NEEDS HELP
Check out post # 15 https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/hhr-...1-64566/page2/
Only 1 1/4 pipe that seems small? You don't use a Guage? I will have to add valve stem and use tire pump or something cause I do not have compressor yet.. I found one with a Guage on Amazon I was gonna buy lol. Might make a trip to depot now.
For doing vacuum leak test am I building pressure and spraying for bubbles like boost leak test? Because if I am with that bleeder kit how can I build pressure if it just sucks the brake fluid out to resoivor? Just trying to acquire tools for this weekend to do test.
For vacuum leak test, I was thinking that you would plug one end, like the hose that plugs into the bypass solenoid, and pull vacuum at the other end, where it plugs into the intake manifold. If it holds vacuum, you're good. If it doesn't, you find the leak, either bubbles or smoke.
For the boost leak, you pressurize with 15 psi or so. Same thing, if it holds, great. If it doesn't, you may be able to feel where the leak is. Clamps, intercooler, split charge pipe. Or bubbles.

The pump does not "just sucks the brake fluid out to resoivor" you can use it for anything that requires a vacuum. Bleeding brakes, testing for leaks in hoses, starting siphons etc.
Have you bothered to visually inspect the tank? That would be my first thing, next disconnect both hoses on it and pull a vacuum, see if it holds. I believe either the tank or it's hoses is your problem.

I have seen post about bypassing vacuum tank. Is that a option? Maybe to diagnose it if I cannot visually get a good look at it? I read your post about pvc and homemade tank. would that be effective and does it need to be the exact same volume to work? I found a zzp replacement for 40. Looks like a pain to get to though.
