I'm scared to death to take my HHR SS in for this TSB. I have had 14k troublefree miles on it and concerned about the inconsistency in service dedication from my local dealers(s). I have a 2500 mi trip coming up in December. The problems that I have reviewed on this site has traditionally bypassed me. I would be concerned that "fixing something that ain't broke" may break something else. Does this adjustment affect other systems of the vehicle (i.e. how much do they have to take apart?)

It takes all of 3 minutes to perform. It so easy a cave man could do it.

Be careful ChevyMgr... Those Geico cavemen get pretty sensative about that kind of talk!

Finally got "the call"

The dealer that sold the SS to me called the other day and left the message about the stud recall.......
I called back and the conversation went something like this.
Service Dude: "Hi, Your 2008 HHR has a recall"
ME: "Oh my. What's going on"
Service Dude: "A part or parts have been determined to be maybe incorrect and may need adjustment and or replacement"
ME: "Well....Er mmmm, is the 16th open?"
Service Dude: "Yes, it is and what time would you like the appointment set for".
ME: "Depends....how long does it take?"
Service Dude: "It will take about two hours"
ME: "Really."
Service Dude: "Yes Sir."
ME: "Dang! That involved?"
Service Dude: "Yes Sir."

This chain yanking by me goes on for a few more minutes and I finally tell'em I'll see him the 16th. Oh joy!
So I'm thinkin'...... someone is tellin' me manure....... Ya think it's the Service Dude? Or the boys and girls on this cyber site? And isn't there something else going on that requires their professional attention to be directed toward my SS? I mean heck, replace a stud and a clip. There is gotta be something else?
I'm having a old persons CRS moment....Can ya help me out here?

Chevy Mgr, what do you think of this? I called Chevy (after much procrastination--sorry), gave them my VIN. The phone rep looked it up and I was told, "and I can assure you, there are no recalls on your vehicle." Now what?

My Auto (with Stage kit) blew out this same stud. I took mine in and they serviced it. They were concerned they would get slack since it was an auto, but it has more torque now than a stock manual SS.

What year is yours? If it's not involved that means it was corrected already, either by the dealer or the factory. What are the last 8 of the VIN? Automatic?

2009, I bought this in 9-08, 535246, and I searched long and hard to find a 5 speed. You replied earlier my ride was covered under the recall (I think on page 10 of this thread). I hope that a) you were possibly mistaken, b) Mr. Goodwrench made a clandestine 3:00 am house call and fixed it, or c) I transposed number. If you were right, I'm guessing I'll have a hassle coming...

Thanks,

Billy-Bob
