Hi:
I wan to have a set of pads for front and rear for my 2009 HHR SS with Brembo brakes.

I searched the forum and it looks like the best front pads are the OEM Brembo pads. I can get them at Rock Auto for $130. Are these still considered the best pads for Brembo HHRs?

What has everyone used on the rear? Usually it's best to match the front and rear, but in this case it will probably have to be a different manufacturer (the AC Delco OEM fronts are made by a different company). Are the rear pads the same for Brembo and non-Brembo front brakes?

Rear pads are the same on all SS. They all have the same rear calipers. If you have the Brembos, it is only an upgrade to the front brakes.
Me. Not a fan of the original Brembo pads because they produce so much dust that dirties up the rims.

You may want to consider doing a complete rotor and pads replacement. Fixing to do mine with a set from Power Stop. Plus you'll get all new hardware including those Brembo pad pins that usually need to be replaced.
My pads in front are not completely worn but the rotors are. WTH. 1st time I've ever had a vehicle that the rotors wore down before the pads. You may want to
"mic" those rotors. Don't be surprised if they're worn thin and out of spec.

I see the kit you have from Powerstop at Rock Auto for $332.

Not bad for slotted/drilled rotors and pads front and back.

Have you run these pads before? How is the stopping power? I would like to have less dusting, but not at the expense of brake performance.

I've run brembo pads on my ss. Got rid of them after couple of months. While the stopping was very good, the dust was just ridiculous. Had to wash the wheels every other day.

 

What pads are you running now?

gold ones from autozone. Life time warranty, good stopping, and barely any dust.

 

This is a tough decision.
OEM pads - max stopping power but much dust
Powerstop Pads - Much less dust but less braking power

For those who switched pads to other brands because of excessive dust, how much braking power did you lose? Did you notice it?

Why do you think that the off brand pads are going to have less stopping power ? The OEM Brembo pads aren't greater than all others.
Besides, unless you're racing or doing a lot of crazy street driving, you probably wouldn't notice a loss off braking power in normal daily driving.
Having the oversized Brembo rotors already gives you better braking than the stock rotors.

 

And if your using that SS in the track , these anchors will improve your stopping distance!

Power Stop Ceramic pads. Hmmmm, maybe FMG is in to something?

Now if the 12.25 inch Brembo rotors and calipers would just simply bolt on to the rear axle, wouldn’t that be a brake setup?
