And dont forget those crappy fan clutches that would slip when hot and not pull enough air..gotta love electric fans....

Tends to run between 202-207 most of the time. Just concerned at why the needle never moves vs. the digital output (and I mean the needle literally does not move AT ALL once up to temp). Makes me wonder if I have a sending unit bad and also a thermostat with temp swings like that.

Anyone else watched the digital gauge and what range do you see. My SS has 50k on it now.
this old post above here pretty much sums it up
these things run hotter whent the heat is on

Unhappy Update wow

Well I got my car back today (Somewhat) had it about an hour (if that) and over heated again. but weird thing the temp dropped after hitting the red down to 196 degrees within seconds and then started climbing back up again. So the dealer took it back in AGAIN.....
since enterprise was closed they tossed me a Chevy Cruze for the night.

The service department has been really great in all this. I just don't know if I want to get another GM after this. 2 Chevy's in a row both with problems usually not seen in cars till they are old not a few years.
I am one very frustrated customer.

OK got my rental again they gave me a huge gas guzzler Silverado....
I just want my car back... I guess they called GM and was told to change out the head gasket anyway and also measure the heads to make sure they didn't warp...
I do like how GM is handling getting the repairs done but just don't like the fact I just bout this thing in December.

I know this is an old thread and post, but wanted to put this out here: Just got our HHR Back last monday fom the dealer, and they replaced the thermostat. My symptoms were, cel Light, NON-Functioning temp gauge. They flushed the system, replaced thermostat. It runs and average of 180 -to 185 degree average. All is fine. I assume warranty coverage cause it ddin't cost me a dime, or they just did it free for the prevouse problem that we all know I had with the wheel falling off on day 2 of ownership. LOL Still crossing my fingers that my problems are over for now. Have been driving the HHR all week quite a bit constantly listening and monitoring everything. No radio for me - for now anyways.....Have a great weekend everyone - Time for a ride!

Thanks for the warm welcome Db/Sb - Much appreciated! In my post I was refering to the title of the tread, about overheating and the issue(s) I had with mine. I wasn't posting anything outside of the realm. Anyone else have a problem? I know when I was PO about my wheel falling off and not realizing I posted a link to mine in a few other posts - It was mentioned and appoligized for that, what else would ya like? wow....Sorry again I guess!

You, Sir, are rather loud....chill out, ease up and maybe you won't end up having to make those kind of posts. I wasn't asking for an apology or even a response. It was a rhetorical statement......let it go.
