Heya guys, long time reader first time writer on the threads! I've noticed that sound the first time the SS was parked in the garage and now I listen to it every time before I shove off away from the car LOL... I've had buddies that worked in turbo'd cars for years and I'm told it has to do with the angle the wastegate valve is facing on the turbo. When the engine is cut the valve is being held open by vacuum, but then flops closed as the vacuum in the engine disperses after shut down.. First time I heard it tho I was lookin under the car for "extra parts" LOL.. There are actually a couple valves that lose their vacuum and either open or close depending on their nature... All the fun sounds added by a turbo setup!

Cheers guys, have fun!

Could this be metal expansion/contraction of the heat shield or other metal part?

Mine does this the first 5 to 10 minutes after engine shut off. Sometimes it's so loud, It makes me think the engine block just cracked in half.

No this is a definately the turbo waste gate or other opening or dropping. Not standard metal heat tick.

It's probably the wastegate closing and resetting itself. Nothing to worry about.

I can believe it being somethig with the wastegate. The fans... I doubt.
