Hi all, got the car in the front of the house, started tinkering around and checking out what's broken with the shift cable and sure enough, the cable is broken at about 3 inches from where it mounts to the tranny. I started pulling and looking at how it all works and it is a pretty simple and engenious way how it was designed. simple yet affective. I was just wondering if anyone has installation instructions or a blown up view of the parts or area where the parts go. I'm just trying to figure out how to take it apart without messing things up. Still have yet to order the part but did find it for around $100 bucks at one site and $135 at another, still less than the dealer ($160). Leaning toward the $135 dealer, http://parts.nalleygmc.com/products/.../15277760.html
Seems like a decent deal but just wanted to see if anyone has ever done this or has any experience. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks guys :)

Well, after playing a little more, I'm just waiting on the part. won't get here until next week, sucks, guess i'll be borrowing a car from a friend. i hate that.

i actually was looking at new cars at various dealers. I'm most likely going to trade in the hhr or sell on craigslist. May sell here if anyone is interested. Would most likely sell for less than going rate, just want to be done with it. If anyone is interested, I would probably take somewhere in the $14k range. open to offers of course but not in a hurry to sell. Still contemplating putting up an ad here...

I had a similar problem. Turned out to be a bent connecting rod.
They replaced the engine under warranty.

Good news!! Got the shift cables in the mail yesterday, started installing late at night (actually 12:30am). Got to a point that I needed to stop before breaking something and continued this morning. Things weren't lining up correctly (felt like some adjustment was needed), so, I came here to good ol' hhrss.net and found that the cables can be adjusted. First try adjusting was a spot on match for the "sweet spot" and went driving with the kids. Forgot how much fun this car really is!! Love it still, evven if it has had it's flaws. Will be holding on to it for a while now :)

Yeah, my fault first time around (wrong part, special order), second time around, took another 2 and a half weeks to ship (another special order). Running pretty good, no problems or issues. Noticed my A/C isn't working now...Pretty sure it's the relay, wtf! I'm lost on why this car keeps having issues!!!
