SS Rear Shocks

I am replacing a bunch of suspension parts on my new 2008 SS.

I am ordering struts, lower control arms, stabilizer bar bushings and links from Rock Auto.

There are three rear shocks listed for the SS: a cheapo one (not interested in this one) and a Sachs for $36 ea or an AC Delco for $61 each.

Which of the two shocks would you pick?

Thanks
Steve

I believe Sachs are OEM on the LS/ LT models
but then again, I’m happy with the KYB’s
just to confirm you’re ordering the AC Delco GM LCA’s, not moog or otherwise.
I think we discussed the FE5 ball joint stub diameter , didn’t we?

Yes, AC Delco LCAs with the proper ball joint stud diameter.

Also AC Delco Struts, Energy Suspension stabilizer bar bushings for 23mm stabilizer bar in SS. Rock Auto doesn't list the Energy Suspension bushings under the catalog for SS parts, but if you specify the energy suspension brand and the part number they do have them.

I always used the KYB rear shocks on my non-SS HHRs, but they don't make one for the SS (according to my research).

Also, the stabilizer bar links are the same (9.86") ones for the LS/LT/SS, correct or not?

Steve

Make sure you get new top hats with the bushing, insulators, and new upper and lower spring seats. I just did front struts, moog end links, and a passenger LCA on my new to me 08 SS as well. 9.86in moog end link, and I'm ordering moog sway bar bushings since I still have a little clunk up front. I made the mistake and put KYB excel struts up front, it drives fine but i'm going to put acdelco ones up front this spring, and bilstein shocks out back (zzp has them at 86 ea i think) Previous owner put new wheel bearings in each side, but put the wrong LCA on the passenger side.... might be putting a knuckle in it too.

Had a 05 cobalt SS years ago, but man this thing is WAY more fun then even that was with full bolt ons.
