So it is the bolt backed out into something on the right , threads exposed. It appears to be too long to get out , so a reciprocating saw or cut off wheel might be the way to get it out, or remove the obstruction.

Cut the threaded part and back the rest out with pliers

Yeah I found that kind of odd that I couldn't back the nut off the while way.

so just cut the bolt off to get to the rear bolt and discard turbo bracket?

But doesn't the downpipe/cat also use that bracket for support? All the cat weight will be in the turbo then? That doesnt sound good.

The nut to the right of the thread is backed off. But not enough room to remove the nut. This is in the bottom of the vehicle. The 6 point bolt head above it is towards the top of the vehicle. And doesn't appear to be a normal size. This is the support bracket for the turbo and the downpipe/catalytic converter/flex pipe.

I don't recall having this issue. What is that panel that is keeping the nut in the foreground from coming completely off?

I believe that is the auto transmission.

I managed to find a pdf of the removal procedure and removed the upper turbo bracket bolt from the turbo with a 7mm socket and now I have much better access.

I was able to loosen the lower turbo bracket top bolt with the closed end of a 15mm combo wrench.

That explains it, I have a manual transmission. Seems like you're making progress again!

Auto ain't too bad. Just takes some patience.

I think I'm on the last steps now. Does this plug remove via pulling that metal bar out/back?

Would this be the cause of 4 psi boost and exhaust smoke? Loss of oil and coolant?
