Warped Rotors

After 60,000 miles my SS is showing signs of rotors being warped. I just changed to a non-OEM pad and within a few weeks the front end wobbles on braking.

Question: 1.)what rotors do you recommend? 2) what pads that limit dust and don't squeal do you use?

Question. Do you have the Brembo brakes?

Check and see if there are Raybestos pads and rotors available. They are excellent! Every GM vehicle that I have owned has had Rotor pulsation after a while and each has been rectified with Raybestos parts. My HHR is smooth during braking and has been for twenty five thousand miles now. There is also no dust issues, or noise.

At 60k Bob, your rotors may be on the thin side, and combined with the new pads(probably more aggressive than OEM I'm guessing), they've just given up and turned into "potato chips" on you.

As Gary said, Raybestos makes some really good pads, or there are places like EBC with low dust compounds. I'm sure more SS owners will weigh in here over the long weekend.

At 92K miles I had rotors, pads, drums amd shoes all replaced. I had no pulsing or brake issues and the components all were still in good condition. Cars that have "premature" wear or pulsing you need to evaluate your braking techniques.

No, early 2008 SS, not sure they were available yet.

Gee, I thought 60K miles in L.A. traffic was good for brakes. Ya think that's "Premature", Really? I'm not complaining about this, just wanted input. Just a quick repair job I can do, but interested in Rotor and pad options others are using. Drilled or slotted rotors and I was thinking of EBC parts as well.
