Yet another failed SS, HELP!
How's it going everyone? Well, I have fallen victim to GM's sh*t engineering and service department. Have an 08 SS just went over 70k, have the stage kit, full 3" cat back and K&N filter. I put the stage kit on over two years ago, so it was the one with the butt connectors. I have done tons of research and searched the forums to figure out the problems but at a loss now. I have solder the connectors, still runs like crap. I have tried adjusting the lower intercooler sensor, still runs like crap. I have replaced the MAF, still run like crap. The current CEL codes are P0101 and P2188, but changes with different weather and time of day. The car will die on start up most days and requires me the give I gas to stay running. At idle it will bounce between 500-2500 rpm. My A/F ratio goes between 10-30 at all throttle positions. My voltage meter goes from 13.5-14.4. The car will go into limp mode and then shoot up to 20PSI, almost plowed into the back of the car the other night. My dashboard will randomly light up like the forth of July with all different sensors failing all the time, TPS, service airbag (WTF does that mean?), seat belt indicator and the CEL's. The back windows no longer go down, they will go up but not down and sometimes the passenger will stall and start again. I have taken the car to two different dealerships over the past two years and get drastically different answers. One said it was the MAF, K&N, and BOV was going out, the other says they can't figure out the problem or give me some bogus answer, like it needs an injector service. I called GM and basically got told your F'd, because the electrical does not fall under warranty for past 36k. They are more than happy to charge my diagnostic fee after diagnostic fee, but can't fix the car under warranty. I love the car when it runs right, but it never does unless but some random alignment of the planets it might be fine for a day. At this point I just want to get rid of it, but it's a little hard to sell something that is broke. I cant afford to pay thousands to fix the car, I'm sick of dealing with GM and getting bonehead answers in going back and forth wasting my time. Am I stuck in having to get a new wiring harness and remove the stage kit? Should I file with the BBB for a lemon car? Do I leave the car running in bad neighborhood? Seriously, unfreakinbelievable. I have always been a bowtie kid, but I will never buy a new GM product after having this car.

#PIP4925: SES Light With Fuel Trim/Or Oxygen Sensor Codes - (Jul 12, 2011)
Subject: SES Light with Fuel Trim and/or Oxygen Sensor Codes
Models: 2000-2012 All Passenger Cars with Gasoline Engines
2000-2012 All Light Duty Trucks with Gasoline Engines
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
A customer may comment the vehicle has an SES light on. Initial diagnosis may display any of these fuel trim and/or O2 sensor related codes, P0101, P0137, P0138, P0140, P0141,P0157, P0158, P0160, P0161, P0171, P0174, P0420, P0430, P1174, P1175, P2096, P2097, P2098, P2099, P2177, P2178, P2179, P2180, P2187, P2188, P2189, P2190. P2270, P2271, P2272, P2273.
Recommendation/Instructions:
If normal SI diagnostics does not lead to a resolution and an intake vacuum leak or an exhaust leak is suspected, the use of the J41413-200 Evaporative System Tester smoke machine may be useful to find the leak.
For an intake leak the smoke can be introduce into the brake booster hose or the oil dipstick tube. For best effect covering the air intake before the MAF sensor to allow air pressure to build is recommended.
For an exhaust leak the hose into the tailpipe sealed with shop towels proves to be effective. This method is very good for finding small leaks around the O2 sensor embossments and slight cracks in an intake plenum or gasket.

I am planning of swapping the filter today and resetting the ECU. Maybe get an hour or two of normal driving.
Snoopy, both dealers I was at just really didn't care. They were just typical service writer schmucks. They see me as just some dumb kid that doesn't know what I'm talking about and try to sell my stupid services. For instance the first time I brought it in with this problem they looked at the boost gauge and that was it. Since it was an Aeroforce gauge they said the problem was the gauge not reading the correct boost not a problem with the car.
ChevyMgr, is that link for the P0101 a recall that GM will fix?

No, I was just wondering if your last statement, in your original post, was made to the dealer(s). If so, you provided no incentive for the dealer to provide you with other than standard replies. They figure they already lost a customer.
The "P" number that ChevyMgr provided is for a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) NOT a recall. The bulletin is ONLY to assist the technicians in providing an adequate repair. It is not mandatory, and only assists in making the repair when that particular problem is found.
So, I suggest swapping the OEM filter back (disconnect the negative battery cable or proper fuse before doing so)....reconnect the cable or fuse and see if the car runs differently after several minutes.

Hey, re reading your post.....
Are you saying you have experienced problems since the install of the GM (assuming)stage kit? Who did the install....sounds like you? Was the "software" ungraded by the dealer? Or some aftermarket tune? Did you own since new? How did it run before the "stage" kit?
