Yes, the problems started after the stage kit was done. I've owned the car since day one never had a problem till couple months after the stage kit. I did all the other work on the car, but I did not do the install for the sake of the "warranty" took it to the dealer.

Dealer did the install and you have an immediate problem....sounds like the dealer has the problem also....they did something incorrect.

I'm thinking...... another recent member had the same symptoms and it turned out to be the dealer's tech. installed incorrect software. Let me see if I can find that....

Here read through the entire thread....see what you think....

Also noticed he is from Colorado...must be something with the dealers there.

Sad. Blaming GM, Chevrolet,engineering, etc.etc.
I read your post. Sounds like you have a dealer/installation problem. Don't blame everyone else for your issues.
Btw. If you had problems from day one of the GMTU install, it does have a warranty. Can't get it fixed. Have them uninstall it and get a refund.

I realize that your post was just so you could rant, but come on. Not the best way for you to get any help or answers.

I had the great misfortune of a Denver Chevy dealer stripping the oil pan drain plug on my sister's Cavalier back in the mid-'90s, and he told her that "they all do that. You should buy a Honda instead.", and charging us for a new oil pan, gasket, etc. They were a Chevy/Honda dealer at the time, and since I worked at GM, we sued. The a$$hole got fired, and the dealer got put on warning by GM. Dealers can certainly "not be in your corner". When they aren't, I suggest a big hammer, and will support it as a GM employee. That is not what we are about. If they screwed your car up, you need to bring it, dude.

I can only think of a few things that would cause what you are describing about engine performance.
1. Boost leak (broken or cracked intercooler, charge pipes, ect)
2. bad/shorted map sensor ( in some cases this can take out the ECM as well)
3. Boost leak

The issue was not for months after the install. The dealer that did it is one of the better performance Chevy dealers in the state, but they are out in BFE. I took it to them because at the time they were the only dealer that knew GM made an upgrade kit. The other dealers the car has been to are more local but I swear some can't tell a difference between a dipstick and spark plug. I was thinking about swapping out the map sensor. Figured I might try that before having to swap the wiring harness.

Check the lower (?) sensor and make sure they installed it correctly, it has a bit of extra material (locator tab) that needs to be removed for it to seat correctly, if not the the sensor will havve a leak around it..there are some postings about this as others had this problem..from mechanics who didnt look or know the system.. I mention this as its an easy check and its free..just in case..

I have watched these complaints for years now and in almost every case it could be pinned on poor dealer install.

Too many other have had them installed with no issues.

The fact is I have learned from the dealer Turbo tech that installed mine that you need to use the proper Kent Moore tools to do the connection or they will fail. Many techs are too lazy or just do not want to take the time to get the proper tool to crimp these wires.

Also many fail to read how to modify the tube for the Map.

IF done as GM states this kit works and as hard as it may be to believe a problem with dealers that do not fix cars correctly. Not that that ever happens.

Thanks for the insight everyone. I'm going to try and check the lower MAP sensor next weekend. Any ideas on why the rest of the electrical system is so out of whack?

When I hear all the electrical excursions you have, I think either a short or wacky ECU. For shorts, the first place I would suspect is where the GMTU connections were made and in your case soldered. You could simply have a loose (broken) soldered joint, a chaffed wire(s) near where the A/C compressor and lower TMAP harness are VERY close. There are GM TSB about the A/C interference concern and plenty of connections posts on this website regarding that issue. When I had the connections issue, I showed the dealer copies of posts that showed other GM dealers were soldering the connections and they did it. However, soldering is not foolproof and can fail as well. There could be moisture intrusion, corrosion and those things wreck havoc with voltage loss on the control signals. Are you out powertrain warranty? If not, this sounds like it should be covered. As an aside, the only time I have ever seen my display instruments go wacky is when the battery was failing, that was on the motorcycle. Hope you get it worked out.
