Good Luck when you purchase your tires, You must look at the warranty on the tires you do not want 40K warranty tires look for the 80K

To me, a tire with a 10,000mile or 100,000 mile warranty, it means nothing as the chances of getting a replacement are very thin whenyour up at that time frame.

So I just get the lower end but must get the road hazard warranty. This way, these things can blow out or go bad every 6 months for all I care and I'll be covered. Those 30,40, 50,000 mile tire warrantys, I feel are a scam to get you to buy the tire.

Lets see,,, two tires for my Honda Goldwing motorcycle, about $300, and now add the tax and balance and mount, pretty close to 400 dollars. I usually get about 15K miles on them. And if I take the bike to the dealer for them to take the wheels off the bike, the bill will be over $500.

I guess I'm lucky when it comes to tires. Both of my parents work at a tire warehouse. I get them at cost. Plus I have a mechanic that will mount and balance for $10 a wheel for me. No valve stem or disposal fees. When I had my Jimmy (P235/70R15) I got all 4 tires replaced for a total of $140. I should start checking into how much I can get tires for the HHR for.

Have you checked Dicount Tire?

I think they have the best deals w/ warranty. Plus they are local and you get free lifetime rotations. You can find plenty of good tires under 100 and they will price match.

I like Kumho for the price and even falken

No I didn't check them and I live real close and drive by them every day. On thelighter side, this remonds me of buying a computer printer. Pay $20 for the printer and $50 for the ink cartridge

Shop at Tirerack first, get your price, then go to a local dealer with a print-out of the Tirerack price. I'm sure they can come REAL close to matching he price, after you consider mounting balancing & freight, that will add $35 to the price of each Tirerack tire. Unless you know someone with a mounting & balancing machine, Tirerack isn't always the greatest. If you bring the tires to a local shop, they'll charge you $25 apiece to mount & balance. Many times, they do not charge these fees if you buy the tires from them. This method has worked for me many times. Give your local guy a chance to match, he may be your neighbor someday.

And now for the question being left out:

Is there a 15" or 16" wheel that will fit correctly and allow us to buy less expensive & more commonly available tires?

I've looked at those rediculously wide tires and thought that I could get better gas mileage with narrower tires, but have tos tart by getting narrower wheels.
