215/40's on 8"rim?

215/40's on 8"rim?

Just a quick one today, have any of you put a set of 215/40 tires on a 8" rim? Trying to see if they will fit. Thanks,

Tire Rack lists that size for a 7-8.5" wide rim..

But you can easily check to verify..

I dont know if the 215 would fit right on an 8" wheel. You could go 225/40 or even a 235/40 and that would be great on that width of wheel.

215s on an 8" can be done, but it will have a bit of a stretch look. if that's what you're after, carry on. you'd be a bit better off with a 225 or 235 though, at least.

I dont think it would look noticeably stretched, and it should be funtionally ok with only a small difference in speed readings.
If you want an example of the stretched look, this is 205 on a 9" wheel:

I'd say you'll happier with 225's, both for looks and ride quality.

Thanks to all, really helped out alot. I knew it had been a while since I logged in but didn't think it was this long ago! But, I was able to fit the rims on there and will post some pic up! Thanks again everyone!
