What exactly is re-stripped? Does it involve removing tire material or rim work??

Striping a rim

Striping the rim is the same as striping the side of your car. I have a set of smoothies from Wheel Ventiques with the small baldie hub cap. I had the rims striped before but the painter did not dewax the rim so after 2 plus years the paint has come off. I think it looks better with 2 strips arount the rim. The fellow that I want to strip the rims wants the rims off the vehicle, that is why I need to take them off, just to be stripped and then put back on. The painter that did them first, did them while they were still on the vehicle, all I had to do is jack up one wheel at a time.

See ya down the road

So are you not able to remove 20 lug nuts yourself?

I really didn't start this post to discuss my health issues. So you have a good day.

Bud just got a chance to read this post
so you are saying they want to charge $80.00 to take off 4 wheels with tires and then put a different set of 4 rims and tires on so you can drive away.
that is a ton of money for that.
or am I missing something
If I am reading right you are having them taken off to have them striped thats cool.

That explains it, Thanks. Your not taking the tires off the rims, so if they were rolling OK to begin with you dont need to rebalance. So yes I agree they were giving you a bunch of BS.
